At what age can my child start
We have classes for children age 3+. We welcome parents to bring their child and try a class out!
What are the belt ranks?
See our Ranking System on the class pages Bonsai, Youth, Adult
An instructor can give you more information on what’s required at each rank
Do you offer a trial program?
We offer the first TWO CLASSES FREE to all new students. Registration is ongoing and classes can be started any time.
Do I need to sign a contract?
There are NO contracts. We do not use contracts with our karate school, this allows our members to be flexible. Should you decide to quit training for any reason—injury, lack of interest, work and family obligations, et cetera—you will not be obligated to continue payments.
Families
Do you have discounts for families?
We offer a Family rate: Please see our prices page
Can Parents train with their children?
We welcome parents to train with their children. Soon we plan on having a dedicated Family class. At this time we do not have a designated class, but parents can join the youth class with their child.
First Class
We offer the first TWO CLASSES FREE to all new students. Registration is ongoing and classes can be started any time.
Can I just watch?
You are encouraged to come watch classes, and if it looks like fun, ask the instructor if you may join in when you are feeling comfortable.
What should I wear?
-Loose fitting sports clothes (nothing that will impede movement)
-No shoes or socks while in the class
What should I bring?
-Bottled water (No fizzy drinks or sports drinks please)
-Sweater or jacket, to prevent cooling off after the class
*Shoes, socks, sweater & water can be left in a cubby before the beginning of class
When should I get there?
It is good to arrive about 10 minutes before your class starts so you can have a look around. An instructor can answer any questions you may have before starting and introduce you to other students.
What can I expect in my first class?
You will be joining a general class, with other students of varying abilities. Don’t let that worry you. This is just your first lesson to see if you want to join. It doesn’t take long to learn how to do the techniques like punch, kick, and block. The instructor will make sure you don’t get left behind.
In your first couple of classes you might be asked to sit down during some activities. This is for your safety as we might be doing some things that require previous instruction and we wouldn’t want you to get hurt in any way.
What if I decide I don’t want to join?
No problem. Not everyone will enjoy karate. If you have a trial first class and decide it’s not what you want then we hope to see you in the future.
